Or install from Terminal
curl -fsSL https://cold-brew.liam-is-an.ai/install.sh | bashHow it works
- An agent starts workingThe cup in your menu bar fills by itself and shows how many agents are busy. Press ⌃0 to let the Mac sleep this time.
- Close the lidThe screen goes off, and Claude Code, Codex and the rest keep running.
- Your agents finishA few minutes later the cup empties and the closed Mac goes to sleep.
Why Cold Brew
- It keeps things cool. With the lid closed, the apps your agents aren't using (chat apps, music, the editor you left open) drop to the lowest CPU and disk priority, so they draw less power while the agents work. They're back at full speed the moment you open the lid.
- What the agent needs stays at full strength: the terminal or editor it runs in, anything it started (a simulator, a dev server, a browser it drives), apps on a call or playing audio, and any app you list.
- Browser agents work in the dark. Claude in Chrome, Playwright and other tools that drive a browser keep seeing and clicking pages with the display off and the Mac locked.
Good to know
- It only stays awake while an agent is actually working, never because a session is open.
- It turns itself off when your agents finish, or at 15% battery.
- Closing the lid sleeps the screen and locks the Mac, even if an app is holding the screen on.
- It asks for your password once, to allow a single command:
pmset -a disablesleep. - Don't put the Mac in a bag while the cup is full. It can't get rid of heat with the lid shut.
